*What are pre-existing conditions?
Pre-existing conditions are injuries or illnesses whose symptoms began before the policy took effect or the waiting period** ended.
The insurance company will look at the last 12 months of your pet’s medical history.
For Example: Poor Fluffy is diagnosed with allergies. He needs prescription allergy medication daily to control his flare-ups. the diagnosis came before getting a pet policy, therefore his allergy medication is not covered.
**What is a waiting period?
A waiting period is the time between signing up for a policy and when coverage actually begins, or when certain benefits can be claimed. Insurance companies do this as a safeguard to prevent adverse selection, misuse, and to stabilize risk. If people took out insurance only when they had an expensive claim, insurance companies would not be able to afford to pay out for everyone and premiums would be astronomically unaffordable.
Now…how do you get paid for Fluffy’s vet bills?
- You will download Figo’s Pet Cloud app or sign up online to create an account.
- You will click the “Claims” icon and answer the questions.
- Upload your invoice showing a $0 balance.
- Click submit, and you’re done!
