Nicholas Insurance Agency has a long history of serving our neighbors in the Copper Country… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 1979<\/strong>: Our founder George Nicholas left a very successful career managing the local Prudential Insurance office and opened his own agency out of his home in Hancock. He partnered with the Twin City Service Agency of Menominee, giving him access to many diverse insurance companies so that he could offer his customers the best value available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1981<\/strong>: George purchased the Roy Insurance Agency and moved his office into the old Finlandia Restaurant in downtown Hancock.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1991<\/strong>: We moved to 323 Quincy Street in Hancock.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1994<\/strong>: Son, Darrell Nicholas, joined his father George and became a licensed insurance agent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1996<\/strong>: Son, Steven Nicholas, came aboard allowing George a well-earned semi-retirement. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1997<\/strong>: The agency split from the Twin City Service Agency and became Superior State Agency of Hancock.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1999<\/strong>: George Nicholas passed away this summer, leaving Darrell and Steve as owners and operators of the agency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2006<\/strong>: Our name was changed from Superior State Agency to Nicholas Insurance Agency, taking advantage of the excellent reputation that George had built over the years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2012<\/strong>: We moved to the other side of the bridge to our current location in the former Lode Theater in Houghton.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2022<\/strong>: In August, Darrell Nicholas proceeded with his well-deserved retirement from ownership and working as an agent. Steve continues to own part of the business and operate as the lead commercial lines, life, and health agent. Nikki Fredianelli, now an employee of 2 years, became part owner of the agency and remains the lead personal lines agent. A new CSR, Tayden Carlblom, joined the team to make this agency remain #1 in customer service!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 2023: <\/strong>As of November 1st, the agency moved back <\/em>to Hancock in the Quincy Centre at the bottom of Quincy Hill. As Tayden pursued another career, a new CSR has joined the team. Nikki went back to school and received her Life, Accident, & Health license so she can sell all <\/em>lines of business to keep the agency successful.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    George would be proud of the agency’s legacy and drive to keep it as strong as it once was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
